D2OPEN
City of Pachuca climbing on the mountain! (Pict.Marcel Stolk.)

We were up at 5 am, this is not a normal time but it comes because of the jetlag. Breakfast was finished by 8.00. We were then on the road with our luggage from our Hotel by 10.00. We stayed at the Hotel Isabel in the " Centro Historico" of Mexico City. It is a low budget Hotel verry old with a pleasant atmosphere not far from "The Zocalo".
Afterwards we arranged for our rental car a VW autobus and drive out of Mexico city on the mex 85 Quota to Pachuca, on the road to Mineral del Monte we make the first plant-stop, here we found Agave triangularis and Agave salmiana var. ferox, but also a lot of cacti for example a cristate form of Stenocactus. After taking many pictures we drive to the barranca de Los Venados. Close to the beginning of the Barranca we found a beautiful blau Agave difformis, and in the Barranca a lot of Agave xylonacantha also A. striata and A. mitis var. albidior. Agave xylonacantha growing on vertical walls this was very nice to see.
On a wall in the centre of Metztitlan in a private garden we found A. macroacantha. In the evening we look for and find the Hotel Posada Meztitlan but it was closed, after some rings on the doorbell the opened the Hotel especially for us! Afterwards we take a shower, but there was only enough water for 3 people! We then go to the restaurant on the plaza for a very good dinner with a coctail of "camarones" But Bertus will only drink "Modelo,s Negra"(Dark Beer).

If we leave the retaurant, it was raining and the tempeture is the same as in Holland, So we leave Quickly to our Hotel, and at 9p.m we were in Bed.
