Day 4. Monday february 13 From Metztitlan to The Laguna Totolcingo and Perote.

The last photostop in de barranca The Metztitlan with the super Cephalocereus senilis, the old man cacti (Pict Willy Pihay)

After an cold night throughout we are awake at 5 am once again to find that for this day we are all able to have a hot shower. We were then on the road at 8.00.a.m. Its was a sunny day with clear blue skies and the day was also warm. We made the last photostop in the Barranca by Buena Vista in the full sun that was loveley. From Pachuca we take the road to Ciudad Sahaguin. In Sahaguin we are able to find a cash machine and get some money out of the wall that allows us to pay for the lunch in the marketplace. We did not pay much for this, but in one day we made for them more money than they would in a whole year! From Sahaguin we take the mex.136 and drive to Galpulalpan passing Apizaco and Huamantla, we arrive at the Laguna of Totolcingo. This is an old inner sea Lake, where now the people are collecting salt. We drive in to the dry Sea bed with the car but then become firmly stuck in the sand, but with 6 able men this is not a bog problem. We have to make a stop of 2.hrs to visit two small mountains on the north side of the road. Our boots are tight and feet overgrown with walking Opuntia,s! But an the small mountains we found a beautiful blue Agave spec. Also the cacti of Mammillaria discolor and M. centralifera. We on toin Perote for the overnight stop finding with no problem the Hotel del Centro. The city is very lively and in a\nice Pescado(fish) restaurant, we and the girl waitresses after serving dinner then start singing and dancing with..............
